Naturally Modern Eden Prairie MN Kitchen Interior Design

In search of a sleek, modern space for entertaining, this newly single father of two college-age boys who come and go considered moving to a downtown-Minneapolis loft. He discussed his options with Interior Designer Mallory Archer, who suggested infusing the urban style he craved into his Eden Prairie townhome.

Lofty ambitions. On behalf of the townhome owner, Interior Designer Mallory Archer transforms a tight townhome kitchen an open, loft-like space. The physical – and psychological – shift was the Rx this Twin Cities physician required.

Twin Cities kitchen designer Mallory Archer selected all materials, products and surface finishes to match the townhome owner’s preferences for natural, tactile materials to be used in a modern way. His desire to entertain in style required that the formerly separate kitchen be opened to the living and dining areas. A wall of appliances mixing stainless with cabinetry organizes the microwave, ovens and all-important television into a single zone.

Custom cabinetry created with traditional quartersawn white oak becomes modern with horizontally laid grain. A natural finish keeps them light throughout the kitchen interior design. Stainless steel envelops the center island for a dramatic effect. A durable Brazillian hardwood – cumaru – adds richly varied hues underfoot. Masculine Chilton Country Squire Ledgestone used for the livingroom fireplace also wraps the ceiling-high cooktop vent. Countertops are practical and understated in creamy Ceasarstone. Appliances, hardware and two sinks are stainless steel – an industrial contrast to the sensuality of natural materials in the Twin Cities kitchen design. A palette from earthy gray to cream unites the rooms and materials. As antidote to a typical builder ceiling, Interior Designer Mallory Archer smoothed the surface and painted it an industrial shade of gray.
