Gourmet kitchen remodel adds elegance to lakeside home

When the family of five moved in to this Excelsior, MN home on Lake Minnetonka, a gourmet kitchen remodel was in order. Their Interior Designer Mallory Archer transformed the all-white room with light maple floors into an elegant and accommodating space.

Transitional interior design blends contemporary and traditional motifs. Rather than design a particular style, Interior Designer Mallory Archer created a “transitional” theme. The room melds a traditional backsplash, a beautifully stained maple floor, and a bead-board ceiling with a contemporary black-and-white color scheme.

The white upper cabinets remain light and airy in contrast to the elegant, black lower cabinets and appliances. The tile backsplash and center-island granite features encompass all colors to unify the interior-design space.
