Brad Parker's West Village Studio

Texan Elegance meets Rustic Charm

When we arrived at the shoot we were in absolute awe of this studio. Not only is it sexy, warm and lived in, but Brad has managed to create an almost mountain-lodge style inside an extremely well-maintained space. "I started by embracing the building and its exposed-brick interiors. From that I was able to get a color scheme, furniture and architectural styles. So I would say the outside of the building should translate to the inside and vice versa."

Living Room

Chess Table and Chairs beneath window. Brad explained that the most significant thing in his home is the handcrafted cherry-oak chess table that sits beneath a window overlooking the West Village. "It reminds me every day to not take life or work too seriously, and at the end of the day to look around and smile a little bit."

Having a view of a quiet West Village corner would lend to much inspiration in any home, but because his studio building is so centrally located in the heart of the West Village, Brad is lucky to have the best of little of everything around.

Living Area

Every corner just reeks of elegance. "I am not originally from here. I grew up in Texas, where my style was greatly influenced by my mother's southwestern heritage. Bright colors, decorative tile, desert tones, family oriented, etc. I think working in interactiv opened me up a bit and I saw that with designers like John Varvatos you can deconstruct that rigid New York, embrace that grunge of the Lower East Side, but still keep it classy. After I moved here to the West Village, I think I combined that deconstructed New York style with a bit of fun."

Well-maintained, warm and comfortable. Brad knows the importance of having a place to come home to each and every night that you feel welcome, cozy, relaxed. Every detail, every corner, every nook and shelf and surface is meticulously crafted to convey a sense of well-being and good down-home comfortability.

Exposed Red-Brick Warmth. Exposed brick walls aren't an uncommon site in the West Village, but Brad's West Village studio offers something much more unique than that, in the form of shelving built directly into brick wall itself. The oak platforms offer surface area for asian-influence art pieces and other various objects that contribute to the charm.

Gourmet Kitchen Remodel Adds Elegance to Studio Home.
"As a mostly eat-out type of guy, having an overly-large kitchen isn't of paramount importance, but since the kitchen area is the first thing you see upon arrival, it was necessary for the room to be as welcoming as possible! I'm talking about CHRISTMAS LIGHTS!!

Naturally Modern Eden Prairie Kitchen Interior Design.
Full-size fridge, counter-space with working sink complete with hot/cold water choices. Above ion-lights. Stove, and a blender somewhere out of frame. It's there though.

Brass Elephants on a Ledge.
"Ah, those things...Ya, they're for good luck!" Brad says dismissively as we survey the kitchen for additional items of interest to take pictures of.

Bathroom

Brad opted for a restorative bathroom design with warm woods, Asian elements, and antique furniture. He asked that it retain a well-worn but cozy aesthetic.

Wooden beams and support structures add rustic touches throughout the apartment, as even simple doorways provide opportunities to emphasize the importance of how even the smallest details add value to the overall experience.
